Neighborhood Fridge
identity, social media, print + web
Neighborhood Fridge started in 2022 as a handful of people in Orlando who couldn't stand by any longer while others in their community struggled to access food.
They engaged me to build an initial identity for a community fridge and food rescue network. I stayed on to help with social media and other one-off needs. Fast forward to today, we've created a social media presence so distinct that the volunteer ranks have swelled to 50+ consistent members (no small feat for a grassroots initiative). The network has grown into a two-city operation, with Tampa hosting their second location.
CREATING ALTERNATE PATHWAYS TO MEALS
To date, the organization has rescued over 100,000+ lbs of surplus food from partnering business that would've otherwise had to throw it away. That food is then either placed in community fridges for anyone to access, or incorporated into hot meals to be distributed to the unhoused community.
BRIDGING GAPS IN THE SYSTEM
Neighborhood Fridge also operates the South St. Community Garden, in the Parramore district of Orlando, a notable food desert.
To help people locate the fresh food NHF offers (or help them get involved in our efforts), print and web materials were created and distributed.
