Hi. I design and build websites, digital ads, print design, and animate motion graphics in beautiful downtown Lexington, KY.

the Woodland Art Fair

print design, motion, social media

I had the privilege of shaping the look of three years of the Woodland Art Fair, one of Kentucky's largest free cultural events.  Organized by Lexington Art League, in collaboration with the City of Lexington, it attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually, and averages 200 artists from around the country who come to sell their craft.

Each year, the Art League solicits a fresh look to galvanize Central Kentucky fair goers. But the identity must hearken back to previous years, to remain familiar to the community. I helped deliver a fresh direction each year while making it clear: this is the same Woodland Art Fair we've all been going to for 50 years.

2023

This year's identity was an evolution from the previous in many ways. While the logo, mid-century aesthetic, and human characters are anchors, everything else was made new. New landscape, new colorways, and new illustrations in a united depiction of a bustling, late-summer public park.

2024

We introduced a more inclusive cast of characters this year  — people of all shapes, sizes, abilities, and backgrounds have always attended the WAF. Now they're woven into our visual story.

The shape language has been updated too — soft corners have become more defined, sharper, and more active.

2025

The biggest change we see this year is in the framing. The whole of the Woodland Art Fair world now sits neatly in a tidy, angular shape. This shape can appear more easily on merch and take-home items.

I was very pleased to be able to give this direction life via animation. It's been a pleasure to see the shapes I've drawn over the years come to life in so many forms.

Hey, thanks
for visiting
